New Nanaksar Arts Gallery

At New Nanaksar Art Gallery, we recently had the honor of completing the installation of a stunning fiberglass dome (Gumbad) at Gurdwara Sahib in Nangal. This project was a reflection of our unwavering commitment to blending traditional Sikh architecture with modern engineering. Fiberglass domes are gaining popularity for their remarkable durability, lightweight design, and aesthetic appeal, and this installation was a testament to our craftsmanship and dedication to spiritual artistry.

The Significance of the Dome (Gumbad) in Sikh Architecture

The Gumbad, or dome, holds a special significance

in Sikh architecture, symbolizing the oneness of God and the celestial connection. Traditionally, domes in Gurdwaras have been crafted from materials like wood or stone, which are beautiful but prone to weather-related damage over time. Fiberglass offers a contemporary solution that maintains the traditional design while significantly improving durability and ease of maintenance.

Why Fiberglass? The Key Benefits of Our Dome Design

Our fiberglass Gumbads are meticulously crafted to withstand harsh weather conditions, ensuring long-lasting beauty and structural integrity. Here are some of the key benefits that made fiberglass the ideal choice for this project:

  1. Durability: The fiberglass dome is highly resistant to environmental wear and tear, including rain, UV rays, and humidity. Unlike traditional materials, fiberglass does not corrode, crack, or decay, making it a sustainable choice for Gurdwaras.

  2. Lightweight and Safe: Fiberglass is a much lighter material compared to wood or stone, reducing the structural load on the building. This also makes the installation process safer and faster.

  3. Low Maintenance: The fiberglass dome installed at Gurdwara Sahib in Nangal requires minimal maintenance. A simple wipe with water keeps the dome looking pristine for years to come.

  4. Beautiful Design: We worked closely with the committee of Gurdwara Sahib in Nangal to create a design that aligns with traditional aesthetics while incorporating modern craftsmanship. The dome’s smooth finish and elegant curvature add to the spiritual ambiance of the Gurdwara.

The Installation Process

The installation of the fiberglass dome at Gurdwara Sahib in Nangal was a collaborative effort involving our experienced craftsmen and the Gurdwara management. The process began with designing and fabricating the dome at our workshop in Barnala, where our artisans meticulously crafted the fiberglass panels to ensure a seamless finish. Each panel was treated with high-quality weather-resistant coatings to enhance the dome’s longevity.

Upon completion, the dome was transported to Nangal, where our installation team assembled it on-site with precision and care. The entire process was completed efficiently, minimizing any disruption to the daily activities of the Gurdwara Sahib.

A Symbol of Devotion and Modern Craftsmanship

The installation of the fiberglass dome at Gurdwara Sahib in Nangal is a proud achievement for us at New Nanaksar Art Gallery. This project not only reflects our dedication to preserving and enhancing Sikh architectural heritage but also demonstrates our commitment to innovation and quality. The dome stands as a symbol of devotion, embodying the divine essence of the Gurdwara and inspiring the sangat with its grandeur and spiritual significance.
